De-identification before AI processing. Before we send your content to an AI provider listed above, we replace the names we hold for you, and for the people, pets and organizations you have told us about, with stand-in labels. We also remove email addresses, phone numbers, street addresses and identification numbers. In conversations, we send your age rather than your date of birth, and your city or state rather than your street address. We restore the original names in the response before it is shown to you or saved. This process does not apply to: (a) audio you record or dictate, which our speech-to-text provider receives as recorded; (b) images you share, which are sent to the AI provider as provided; (c) names you include in a request to generate an image; and (d) a name we have not previously recorded, which may be sent as written until it is recorded. We do not send your account identifiers to AI providers.
5. DO WE USE COOKIES AND OTHER TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES?
In Short: We may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect and store your information.
We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies (like web beacons and pixels) to gather information when you interact with our Services. Some online tracking technologies help us maintain the security of our Services and your account, prevent crashes, fix bugs, save your preferences, and assist with basic site functions.
The Tessera mobile app does not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking technologies, and we do not allow third parties to use our Services to serve you targeted advertising or to build advertising profiles about you. We do not display ads, sell ad space, or send "abandoned cart" or similar advertising messages. Any cookies used on our website are strictly necessary or functional (for example, to keep you signed in and to secure the site).
To the extent these online tracking technologies are deemed to be a "sale"/"sharing" (which includes targeted advertising, as defined under the applicable laws) under applicable US state laws, you can opt out of these online tracking technologies by submitting a request as described below under section "DO UNITED STATES RESIDENTS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?"
Specific information about how we use such technologies and how you can refuse certain cookies is set out in our Cookie Notice.
Our web application also stores small amounts of data in your browser local storage to keep you signed in and to remember interface preferences. You can clear this at any time through your browser settings.
6. DO WE OFFER ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-BASED PRODUCTS?
In Short: We offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies.
As part of our Services, we offer products, features, or tools powered by artificial intelligence, machine learning, or similar technologies (collectively, "AI Products"). These tools are designed to enhance your experience and provide you with innovative solutions. The terms in this Privacy Notice govern your use of the AI Products within our Services.
Use of AI Technologies
We provide the AI Products through third-party service providers ("AI Service Providers"), including Anthropic (conversational AI, memory extraction, and web search), OpenAI (conversational AI, content moderation, image generation, and web search), Google Cloud Vertex AI (conversational AI and image generation), and xAI (conversational AI and web search). As outlined in this Privacy Notice, your input, output, and personal information will be shared with and processed by these AI Service Providers to enable your use of our AI Products for purposes outlined in "WHAT LEGAL BASES DO WE RELY ON TO PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?" You must not use the AI Products in any way that violates the terms or policies of any AI Service Provider.
Web search during a conversation. Some of the models Tessera offers can look something up on the live web while they answer you. When that happens, the model forms a search query from what you asked, a search service runs it, and what it finds is folded into the same reply. Your stored memory is not sent to a search index as such; only the query the model forms, which can reflect what it knows from the conversation. The number of searches is capped within a single reply, and the feature can be switched off across the whole service without an app update. Which company runs the search depends on the model you are talking to:
- Anthropic, for its Claude models. The search is provided by Anthropic as part of its service.
- xAI, for its Grok models, and OpenAI, for its GPT models, where search is turned on for that model. The search is carried out through that company’s service. For OpenAI the query is covered by the same terms as the rest of what we send it, described under “No training on your data” below. xAI does not separately say how its search handles the query.
- Google, for its Gemini models. Gemini models do not search yet. Once we switch it on, the query will go to Google Search through Google Cloud. Google keeps a log of those queries, and of any context sent with them, for up to 3 days to keep that search service reliable. The log is not tied to your account or to us, it cannot be switched off, and Google does not use it to train its models.
Files and documents you attach. You can attach a document to a conversation, or send one to Tessera from another app using your share sheet. We accept PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, Markdown, and plain-text files, up to five megabytes and one document per message. The text is read out of the file and sent to the AI provider serving that conversation so it can answer you. That extracted text is not saved. What we keep in your conversation history is the file name, not the contents, so an attached document is not quietly filed into your memory and is not re-sent with every later message in the thread. If you want something from a document to become part of your memory, you import it deliberately from the Memory tab, and you review and approve what it proposes before anything is saved.
No training on your data. We do not use your conversations, memory, or other personal information to train AI models, and we have not authorised any provider to do so. Each provider that receives your content is covered, and the basis differs by provider, so we set it out rather than generalising. Anthropic, OpenAI and Google Cloud Vertex AI all state as published policy that content sent through their business interfaces is not used to train their models; with OpenAI we have additionally turned off every data-sharing option available to us. With xAI we have enabled Zero Data Retention, under which prompts and responses are not stored, logged, or used for any purpose beyond answering the request. With Voyage AI, which converts your stored memory into the numeric form that makes search work, we have opted out of their model training, and content sent after that opt-out is deleted immediately once it has been processed. Some background work, for example the step that rewrites a follow-up question into a standalone search query, may run on an open-weight model called DeepSeek V4 Flash. DeepSeek publishes that model. DeepSeek does not run it for us and does not receive your content. We reach the model through OpenRouter, a routing service, and we have restricted OpenRouter to two named hosting companies, CoreWeave and Venice, both United States companies operating in United States data centres. We restrict it so that we can tell you which company processes your content, rather than only what that company may do with it. OpenRouter states as published policy that it does not use inputs or outputs to train models, and that it does not store prompts or responses; we have left its optional logging switched off, enabled its account-wide Zero Data Retention setting, and every request we send additionally requires a host that retains nothing. One limit worth stating plainly: that a given host retains nothing is OpenRouter's published assessment of that host, and not a term we have negotiated directly with the host itself. We will update this notice if any of that changes for a given provider.
What "not trained on" does not mean. These are two different promises and we would rather be precise than reassuring. Not being used for training is not the same as not being stored at all. OpenAI keeps a log of API activity for up to thirty days to detect abuse of its service, and that log can be reviewed by people at OpenAI where their policies require it. Because we screen every message for safety through OpenAI, this applies broadly rather than rarely. After that window the log is deleted. The other providers listed above either retain nothing by default or retain nothing at all under the settings we have chosen.

All personal information processed using our AI Products is handled in line with our Privacy Notice and our agreement with third parties. This ensures high security and safeguards your personal information throughout the process, giving you peace of mind about your data's safety.
How to Opt Out
We believe in giving you the power to decide how your data is used. To opt out, you can:

- Editing or deleting individual facts and profile fields in the in-app Memory tab.
- Clearing your conversation history in Settings, under Privacy and data.
- Disconnecting any connected service in Settings, under Connected services.
- Deleting your account entirely, which removes your profile, memories, and conversations.
7. IS YOUR INFORMATION TRANSFERRED INTERNATIONALLY?
In Short: We may transfer, store, and process your information in countries other than your own.
Our servers are located in the United States. Regardless of your location, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored by, and processed by us in our facilities and in the facilities of the third parties with whom we may share your personal information (see "WHEN AND WITH WHOM DO WE SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION?" above), including facilities in the United States, and other countries.
Tessera is offered only in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. We do not offer the Services to, and do not knowingly accept registrations from, residents of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland.
8. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
In Short: We keep your information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Notice unless otherwise required by law.
We will only keep your personal information for as long as it is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Notice, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law (such as tax, accounting, or other legal requirements). While your account is active, we retain conversation history according to your plan: 30 days on the Free plan, 12 months on Starter and Standard, and indefinitely on Pro and Power. Items saved to your Library expire after 3 days on the Free plan and do not expire on any paid plan, including Starter. Your memory profile is retained until you delete it, independently of your conversation history. When you delete an individual memory, the fact itself is removed; we retain only a one-way cryptographic fingerprint of it, which cannot be used to reconstruct the content and exists solely to prevent the same fact being automatically re-added later. When you delete your account, we delete your profile, memories, conversations, Library items, connector tokens, and login credentials immediately and in full. Only content-free security and audit records, advertising attribution records described above, and payment or tax records we are required by law to keep, are retained after that point.
When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymize such information, or, if this is not possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), then we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
9. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
In Short: We aim to protect your personal information through a system of organizational and technical security measures.
We have implemented appropriate and reasonable technical and organizational security measures designed to protect the security of any personal information we process. However, despite our safeguards and efforts to secure your information, no electronic transmission over the Internet or information storage technology can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise or guarantee that hackers, cybercriminals, or other unauthorized third parties will not be able to defeat our security and improperly collect, access, steal, or modify your information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, transmission of personal information to and from our Services is at your own risk. You should only access the Services within a secure environment.
In addition to encryption in transit and at rest, memory facts we classify as health or financial information, including medications, medical conditions, treatments, allergies, income, contact details, and location, are individually encrypted at the field level using AES-256-GCM with a data key unique to your account. That per-account key is itself wrapped by a hardware-backed master key held in Google Cloud Key Management Service, which never leaves that service. Access to production data is limited to per-service database roles scoped to the minimum data each service needs. As described in the section on how we process your information, the text of a memory fact is decrypted when it is sent to our embedding provider so that Tessera can retrieve it by meaning.
Health information you share with Tessera is stored on Tessera's own servers under the protections described above. It is never stored in iCloud or Apple CloudKit and is not backed up to Apple's services.
10. DO WE COLLECT INFORMATION FROM MINORS?
In Short: We do not knowingly collect data from or market to children under 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly collect, solicit data from, or market to children under 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction, nor do we knowingly sell such personal information. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction. If we learn that personal information from users less than 18 years of age or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction has been collected, we will deactivate the account and take reasonable measures to promptly delete such data from our records. If you become aware of any data we may have collected from children under age 18 or the equivalent age as specified by law in your jurisdiction, please contact us at support@authorityindexlabs.com.
11. WHAT ARE YOUR PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: Depending on your state of residence in the US or in some regions, such as Canada, you have rights that allow you greater access to and control over your personal information. You may review, change, or terminate your account at any time, depending on your country, province, or state of residence.
In some regions (like Canada), you have certain rights under applicable data protection laws. These may include the right (i) to request access and obtain a copy of your personal information, (ii) to request rectification or erasure; (iii) to restrict the processing of your personal information; (iv) if applicable, to data portability; and (v) not to be subject to automated decision-making. If a decision that produces legal or similarly significant effects is made solely by automated means, we will inform you, explain the main factors, and offer a simple way to request human review. In certain circumstances, you may also have the right to object to the processing of your personal information. You can make such a request by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below.
We will consider and act upon any request in accordance with applicable data protection laws.
Withdrawing your consent: If we are relying on your consent to process your personal information, which may be express and/or implied consent depending on the applicable law, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. You can withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us by using the contact details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below or updating your preferences.
However, please note that this will not affect the lawfulness of the processing before its withdrawal nor, when applicable law allows, will it affect the processing of your personal information conducted in reliance on lawful processing grounds other than consent.
Opting out of marketing and promotional communications: You can unsubscribe from our marketing and promotional communications at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link in the emails that we send, Emailing support@authorityindexlabs.com to request removal from marketing communications, or by contacting us using the details provided in the section "HOW CAN YOU CONTACT US ABOUT THIS NOTICE?" below. You will then be removed from the marketing lists. However, we may still communicate with you, for example to send you service-related messages that are necessary for the administration and use of your account, to respond to service requests, or for other non-marketing purposes.Account Information
If you would at any time like to review or change the information in your account or terminate your account, you can: - Log in to your account settings and update your user account.
Upon your request to terminate your account, we will deactivate or delete your account and information from our active databases. However, we may retain some information in our files to prevent fraud, troubleshoot problems, assist with any investigations, enforce our legal terms and/or comply with applicable legal requirements.
Cookies and similar technologies: Most Web browsers are set to accept cookies by default. If you prefer, you can usually choose to set your browser to remove cookies and to reject cookies. If you choose to remove cookies or reject cookies, this could affect certain features or services of our Services.
12. CONTROLS FOR DO-NOT-TRACK FEATURES
Most web browsers and some mobile operating systems and mobile applications include a Do-Not-Track ("DNT") feature or setting you can activate to signal your privacy preference not to have data about your online browsing activities monitored and collected. At this stage, no uniform technology standard for recognizing and implementing DNT signals has been finalized. As such, we do not currently respond to DNT browser signals or any other mechanism that automatically communicates your choice not to be tracked online. If a standard for online tracking is adopted that we must follow in the future, we will inform you about that practice in a revised version of this Privacy Notice.
California law requires us to let you know how we respond to web browser DNT signals. Because there currently is not an industry or legal standard for recognizing or honoring DNT signals, we do not respond to them at this time.

14. DO OTHER REGIONS HAVE SPECIFIC PRIVACY RIGHTS?
In Short: You may have additional rights based on the country you reside in.
Australia and New Zealand
We collect and process your personal information under the obligations and conditions set by Australia's Privacy Act 1988 and New Zealand's Privacy Act 2020 (Privacy Act).
This Privacy Notice satisfies the notice requirements defined in both Privacy Acts, in particular: what personal information we collect from you, from which sources, for which purposes, and other recipients of your personal information.
If you do not wish to provide the personal information necessary to fulfill their applicable purpose, it may affect our ability to provide our services, in particular:
- offer you the products or services that you want
- respond to or help with your requests
- manage your account with us
- confirm your identity and protect your account
15. GOOGLE API SERVICES USER DATA POLICY COMPLIANCE
Tessera offers a Google Calendar connector. Tessera's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. When you connect Google Calendar, Tessera requests two read-only scopes, calendar.calendarlist.readonly and calendar.events.readonly, and uses the resulting calendar metadata solely to provide time-aware context inside your own conversations. Tessera does not use Google API user data for advertising, does not sell it, and does not transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide this user-facing feature, to comply with law, or in connection with a merger or acquisition. Tessera does not allow humans to read Google API user data unless we have obtained the user's affirmative agreement to view specific messages, the user-facing features of Tessera require human review, the data is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations, or human review is necessary for security purposes such as investigating abuse. Users may revoke Tessera's access to their Google account at any time through their Google Account permissions page at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
16. APPLE HEALTHKIT DATA HANDLING COMMITMENT
When Tessera's health connector becomes available in a future release, Tessera will access health and fitness data from Apple HealthKit (iOS) and Google Health Connect (Android) only with the user's explicit permission granted via the operating system's permission prompt at the time of connector activation. Health data is used solely to provide context to AI conversations within the user's active session and to populate the user-controlled health context section of the user's Tessera profile. Tessera does not sell, license, share, or otherwise transfer health data to third parties for advertising, marketing, data brokerage, insurance underwriting, employment screening, lending decisions, or any other commercial purpose. If you connect a health service in a future release, any health data shared with Tessera's conversational AI providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Google Cloud Vertex AI) is transmitted only as transient context within your active conversation. It is not used to train their models, and it is never retained for advertising or any commercial purpose. Anthropic does not retain conversation content by default. OpenAI keeps a log of API activity for up to thirty days to detect abuse of its service, after which it is deleted; health information included in a message is inside that window like any other content. We are telling you this rather than describing it as short retention, because the distinction between "not used to train" and "not stored" is one you should be able to make for yourself when the data is your health. Users may revoke Tessera's access to HealthKit or Health Connect at any time through their device's privacy settings or through the Connected services screen within the Tessera app.
17. NO-ADVERTISING COMMITMENT
Authority Index Labs, Inc. commits that Tessera will never sell advertising inventory, display third-party advertising within the Tessera mobile application, or monetize a user's identity profile, conversation history, connector data, or extracted facts through advertising, retargeting, data brokerage, or any commercial channel that does not require the user's explicit, granular, and revocable permission. If we launch the planned Tessera Memory API, it will be the sole commercial channel through which portions of a user's profile may be made accessible to authorized third-party applications, and every such access requires an OAuth permission grant from the user that the user can revoke at any time through the Connected services screen. This commitment is a structural feature of Tessera's business model. Authority Index Labs, Inc. will not modify this commitment without providing existing users at least thirty days advance notice via in-app notification and email, during which time users may export their data and delete their account if they do not consent to the change.
18. AI-GENERATED CONTENT DISCLAIMER
Tessera generates responses using third-party artificial intelligence models. The responses produced by these models may contain inaccuracies, omissions, or content unsuitable for the user's specific situation. Tessera is an artificial intelligence assistant. It is not a substitute for licensed medical, legal, financial, mental health, nutritional, or other professional advice. Users should consult qualified, licensed professionals for decisions that require professional expertise.
When Tessera detects content related to medical symptoms or treatment, legal matters, financial decisions, mental health, nutrition, or relationship advice, it appends topic-specific disclaimers recommending consultation with a licensed professional in the relevant field.
When Tessera detects content suggesting an immediate mental health crisis, risk of self-harm, or imminent danger, it will not generate a substantive response and will instead direct the user to crisis resources, including the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988 in the United States) and equivalent emergency services. In an emergency, users should always call 911 (United States) or their local emergency number.
Tessera retains a persistent visible disclosure within its chat interface indicating that responses are AI-generated. During the onboarding flow before the user's first conversation, users are required to acknowledge that they have read and understand these limitations.
19. DO WE MAKE UPDATES TO THIS NOTICE?
In Short: Yes, we will update this notice as necessary to stay compliant with relevant laws.
We may update this Privacy Notice from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Revised" date at the top of this Privacy Notice. If we make material changes to this Privacy Notice, we may notify you either by prominently posting a notice of such changes or by directly sending you a notification. We encourage you to review this Privacy Notice frequently to be informed of how we are protecting your information.
